What this is

The Alta Vista Way is a personal budgeting service. Your budget is visible only to you — the email address that created the household — and to the systems that run the service on our behalf.

Information we handle

  • Your email address and sign-in records.
  • The monthly figures and plan amounts you enter, and the numbers derived from them.
  • If you connect a bank account: read-only account and transaction information provided through Plaid. Your bank credentials go to Plaid directly and never reach us.

How sign-in works

There are no passwords. We email a one-time code to your address; entering it signs you in. No one can reach your budget without access to your email.

Service providers

The service runs on a small set of infrastructure providers acting on our instructions: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Plaid (only if you connect a bank). We do not sell your information, we do not share it with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every household's data is isolated by database-level access rules that are exercised by an automated security test suite. Bank connection tokens are additionally encrypted at the application layer.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your household is active. You can ask us to delete your household and its data at any time — write to hello@myaltavista.com and we'll confirm when it's done.

Questions

Any privacy question or request — access, correction, or deletion — goes to hello@myaltavista.com.
